The only helping hand from the United States Government!

The United States government has created a website that, if used correctly, can be a helpful resource for traveling Americans.  Travel.State.Gov was created by the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA) and has the aim, amongst other things

“to protect the lives and interests of American citizens abroad, and to strengthen the security of United States borders through the vigilant adjudication of visas and passports.”  They would also like to, maybe more importantly, “help American citizens engage the world.”  We, at Live n Travel feel the latter is the most important!

When visiting the site as a traveler, there are a few areas that you will be most interested in: International Travels, Passports and Law & Policy.

International Travel: This is where you will spend most of your time.  It’s where you can find out about emergencies and crises around the world, international travel information, getting tips for traveling, living abroad and finding the exact information, country by country, that will affect Americans there.  It’s a great site to peruse before planning trips to make sure you get the “all clear” from the US government.

Passports: If you haven’t already got a passport this is where you will need to go to obtain all the information to do so. Check out our Blog “All you’ll ever need in life is your Passport” for quick easy tips on obtaining the best tool you’ll ever own.

Law & Policy: More often than not, you will be safer abroad than in your own hometown, but just in case something does go wrong; this is the place to come for information.  Whether you want to get married abroad, apply for citizenship in another country or just need legal counsel, you will find out about all the issues and advice here!

Now that you have all the information to get you through this site, you’re ready to pack your bags and jet set to the place of your dreams!  Just remember, if you have any questions please feel free to post them on our forum page or email us directly.

Cheers from the team at Live n Travel!
